Akira

Type-Movie
Rating-9 of 10
Story-Akira is the story of an orphined teenager in a motorcycle gang, named Tetsou. After a major scuffle with a rivil biker gang, Tetsou comes in contact with a mysterous child with incredible powers. From this point on the movie begins to esclate to what may be the best climax in any movie. Ever.
Comments-Akira is what anime is. It defines its essance, its total being. Without Akira, anime wouldn't be the same. Its that good.

Dragonball Z
Type-T.V. Series and Movies
Rating-8 of 10
Story-Dragonball Z is an epic adveture of a group of friends out to stop evil. It begins following one storyline with one group of enemys, then after they are vanquished, another enemy group pops up, usually after the mystical dragonballs. The dragonballs, seven in total, can grant any one wish when brought together.
Comments-Dragonball has the best fight scenes of any anime to date. The animation is remarkable, and the story, while complicated, is easy to enjoy. If you are a fan of fight scenes that last a week in a T.V. series, than this is the anime for you. However, unless you have access to the imported episodes, don't bother, because here in the U.S. we don't even have enough episodes to finsh of the first enemy series.

Neon Genisis Evangelion
Type-T.V. Series
Rating-8 of 10
Story-NGE is the story of a young boy named Shinji, who thought he was getting his divorced father back, but was really getting a job piloting huge robots called Evas. This is his epic story.
Comments-This may be a little to deep for some more lighthearted people, with its curiosity of God (i.e. does he exist) and philisophical refreances. Only mature audiences will be able to interprate the meanings of events or characters. If you can understand it, it is one of the best anime on the planet.
